Umayyad architecture with its several buildings is a major witness of the dynasty. It tells us so much about the kind of authority and causality relations existed, symbolization of the victories and historical context of the regions they lived in. My aim in this paper is to explain representation of Umayyads authority in their architectural buildings. While doing that, I will make use of ternion different type of buildings belong to the dynasty; Dome of the Rock which is the early remaining Islamic monument, Great Mosque of Damascus and lastly a countryside palace- Mshatta.
As it is stated in Bacharachs article, earlier scholarship tended to nominate two basic categories of buildings.
